Hoping you can help me solve a mystery. In the above video and in another "Year of the Cat" video shot on the show "Old Grey Whistle Test" on YouTube, there is a guy playing keyboards and in the Old Grey one at the 3:00 to 3:20 part the camera shows a guy wearing a white short sleeved t shirt who at the very end of the close up looks up for a brief second....my question is: Is that Peter Wood and if not who is it? The only other name i can find for keyboardist's is Don Lobster. Would love to know who this is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ~Chris

Peter Wood was my first cousin. I only met him on two occasions - once in England and then in America, but felt a very close emotional bond to him. He was so talented and his 95 year old uncle John still remembers Peter as a child entertaining the family with his piano playing. He died too young. I would so have loved to get to know him better.It was wonderful to read all you had to say about him and to watch him play. Theresa, it would be fantastic if somehow our love for Peter could bring us and our families together again. Love Trish (Cape Town , South Africa)

That is not Peter Wood on this video, nor is he on the Whistle Stop video. That is Robert Alpert.

Not Peter on video, I'm afraid, but Robert Alpert, who was then hooked up with Al Srewart's backing group (who later became 'Shot in the Dark'). Peter Wood (1950-93), as I understand it, died as a result of a depressed skull fracture (and consequent sub-dural haematoma), sustained accidentally at his New York home (cf. Sandy Denny). 'Shot in the Dark's peerless Glaswegian vocalist / composer, Krysia Kocjan (1953-2007; briefly Krystianne and later, by marriage, Haber) has since also passed away, sadly, in February 2007, at Portland, Oregon, after a long battle with lung-cancer. Sic ad astra sideraque transimus.....

Hi there,
Peter wood I am very proud to say was my uncle (mums brother) I was extremely close to him he was truely a wonderful man. It has taken me many years to come to terms with his death. I was just looking through the net at sites about him. Thank you for your kind words he was a legend too good for this world xxx

Go to You Tube and type in "Al Stewart Year of the Cat." There is footage from an old Whistle Stop from '77 that features Peter Wood prominently at the beginning.
